About the Book
Miss Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirlwind was a woman of wonder. She could rope a hurricane, outspin a steam mill, and blow out the moonlight in a single breath. But her finest adventure was wrestling Fireeyes, a mean-as-tarnation panther whose eyes glared fire. Both fall in love with each other’s coats at first sight, and lickity-split begin fighting. Before long the fight turns into a true conbobberation, as they raise such a racket that the moon dips onto its side and the Milky Way curdles. But neither one backs down, backs up, or backs out . . . until, finally, each wins each other’s respect and the two became great and glorious friends.
Bobbi Miller grew up in Colorado. She has five degrees in writing and currently teaches writing to undergraduate and graduate students. In the spirit of Miss Sally Ann, she lives in the Connecticut woods in an 1830s reproduction log cabin.
Megan Lloyd has illustrated more than forty books for children, including Betsy Ross by Becky White. School Library Journal praised “the irresistible applique art,” noting “Lloyd captures the period, hard work, and ingenuity of this favorite colonial figure.” Megan lives on a farm in central Pennsylvania with her husband.

“Miller has a talent for distilling tall tales to a simple plot that young children can comprehend, and she does it without compromising the language that exemplifies them. . . . This tall tale is a surefire win for a spitfire of a lady. Read it out loud for the best impact, and listeners will be clamoring for more tales about Sally Ann.”
